Garden Beds!

Early days of the garden

The garden is built with treated pine logs to raise the garden bed. This allowed native soil with a high sand content and is low in phosphate, to be used to ensure the plants had the best opportunity thrive and produce their fruits. A special thanks to the GA staff for their huge effort in building the garden.

Planting the natives

The Earth & Environmental Science students enjoyed spending a lesson digging in the fresh soil, where they neatly spaced out and positioned the plants according to the map.

Moving the soil

The students got a bit of a shock when the 18-wheeler truck arrived and dropped off 20 cubic metres of soil. Students from across all school years contributed, as well as a great effort from the GA staff, IT staff and teachers who gave up their free time to help. It was hard work and required a large number of wheelbarrow loads to move the huge pile of soil.
